Paris (France), 18 May, 2009 – Meteorologist Dimitar Ivanov, having served in ICAO for seven years, two of which were in the EUR/NAT Office, has joined the UN World Meteorological Organization (WMO) on 18 May 2009.

In his capacity of WMO Representative for Europe in the Development and Regional Activities Department, Mr. Ivanov will continue to work under the United Nations umbrella and of course cooperate with other UN agencies like ICAO.

Mr. Ivanov, whose work in ICAO has been greatly appreciated by the entire aviation community as well as by his colleagues, joined ICAO in January 2002 as Regional Officer, Aeronautical Meteorology in the ICAO ASIA/PAC Region, Bangkok and then transferred to the ICAO EUR/NAT Office in Paris in 2007.

Mr Ivanov was initially Head of the Meteorological Services Division of the Bulgarian Air Traffic Services Authority in Sofia.
