Amendments to Annexes 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14 and 15: ICAO 190 Member States are required to state their official position by 20 July, 2009.

FACILITATION (Annex 9)

Amendment 21 contains modifications to Annex 9 as recommended by the 5 th meeting of the ICAO Facilitation Panel. It includes a new text of Chapter 6 (International airports – facilities and services for traffic). Inter alia, the Amendment addresses the need that Contracting States ensure that privatized airports meet the requirements of border inspection agencies and that measures to prevent the spread of disease by air travel are implemented. It also addresses matters relating to modern inspection systems.

In Chapter 3 (Entry and departure of persons and their baggage), the ICAO Council proposes an enhancement of Advance Passenger Information (API) systems in order to align existing and emerging passenger data exchange regimes with existing global best practices.

In Chapter 4 (Entry and departure of cargo and other articles), new SARPs seek international uniformity and focus on mitigating existing entry/exit delays and denials in the transport of radioactive material by air, often essential in medical application.
