Paris (France), 9 September 2009 – The staff of the ICAO EUR/NAT Office gathered together yesterday to celebrate more than 30 years of service for a colleague who is considered by most the Office’s “living database” with regard to administrative and technical expertise within the Technical Team. Nikki Goldschmid, in fact, joined the Paris Office in 1979 and since then she has been appreciated for her reliability and sharpness as well as for her pleasant personality.
“Civil Aviation has made remarkable progresses throughout the last decades and the effectiveness by which our Organization has been able to cope with them is due mainly to the employees who, like you, devoted most of their professional life to the promotion of the objectives listed in the Chicago Convention Foreword,” said ICAO Secretary General, Raymond Benjamin, in a congratulation letter addressed to Ms. Goldschmid and handed out to her by the EUR/NAT Office Director, Karsten Theil (photo below).

Inside the EUR/NAT, among other regular duties performed, Nikki provides the fundamental technical and administrative organization for the Office’s two primary yearly meetings: the European Air Navigation Planning Group and the North Atlantic Systems Planning Group, both of which attract participation from a large number of high level State officials and international organizations. They all appreciate the friendly services provided by Nikki and her ability to overview and manage complex situations.
